Edward Burroughs attended Crossland High School in Temple Hills, Maryland. In his junior year at Crossland, he was elected Student Member on the Prince George’s County Board of Education. He was re-elected to serve as student member his senior year, making him the first two-term student member in Prince George’s County’s history. Because of his experiences as a student in the school system and as a member of the school board, he decided to run for District 8 School Board Member. Elected on November 2, 2010, Edward became the youngest elected official in Maryland and one of the youngest in the United States. A sophomore at University of Maryland Baltimore County, Edward has dedicated his entire young adult life to improving education in Prince George’s County.
