Dana-Marie Harris is passionate about civic engagement and community service and has committed herself to developing outreach programs synergizing community efforts. Building from the notion that a whole is greater than the sum of its parts, Dana-Marie established the nonprofit organization Synergy NPO, Inc., with aims to create collaborative relationships within the community through service initiatives.
Dana-Marie is a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in communication studies with a cognate in government and politics. Shortly after graduation, she developed a teen organization in the Clinton community of Summit Creek, re-activated the youth council of the county’s NAACP branch, and volunteered as a dance instructor and mentor for young girls. Believing in the value of encouraging lifelong community service, she later established a program to assist students with finding relevant service projects in order to actively engage in volunteerism beyond high school. She presently serves as the executive director of the Prince George’s County Council’s Youth Commission.
Dana-Marie received her M.P.A. from Bowie State University and will receive her J.D. in 2013 from the David A. Clarke School of Law at the University of the District of Columbia. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Int’l., and a student member of the American Bar Association.
